BASELINE DATA COLLECTION COMPLETED

The Trans Youth CAN! research team is excited to announce that we have wrapped up baseline data collection with 178 youth and 164 parents/caregivers participating from across Canada! We will continue to collect 1-year and 2-year follow-up data until July of 2021. We want to extend a huge THANK YOU to all our participants who shared/are sharing their personal and medical information with us while we follow them on their journey through clinical care. We are committed to making sure our research results are used in ways that support the health and well-being of trans and non-binary youth and their families, and this is only possible with the trust and sharing that is granted to us by our participants. See more details about our project here: (www.transyouthcan.ca/about-the-project/)

Baseline data collection was completed on July 1, 2019 and we have been working hard since then on data analysis. We have already presented some baseline data at the 2019 Canadian Professional Associate for Transgender Health (CPATH) conference in Montreal, and those presentations are available on the website under the “Study Results” (www.transyouthcan.ca/results) section. We’re working on completing and submitting our first manuscripts for publication in academic journals, and they will be made available to the public by open access and will be linked on the website. We are also excited to start planning clinic-community events at each of the clinics that are part of this study to be able to share our results directly with the community, to hear feedback from the community, and foster and strengthen clinic-community relationships.

We will continue to post updates to the website as the project continues to move forward and we have more results to release. Follow our progress on our website to learn about all the exciting things the project is doing!
