NEW INFOGRAPHICS AND CLINIC-COMMUNITY EVENTS, AND MORE RESULTS COMING

We have been working hard to release our new infographics and hosting clinic-community online events! Over the past five months we have released infographics on:

Parental Support (get it here)

Who are the people served by Canadian Trans Youth Clinics (get it here)

Also check out our previously released infographic on School Experiences (get it here) from our CHEO webinar in August (see here for webinar info).

We have also had more online clinic-community events in Montreal, Edmonton, and Hamilton. We presented some initial results to our participants and the community and answered questions about our project and the clinics involved in the study.

Coming up at the end of January 2021, we have online events scheduled for Vancouver and Toronto, where we will release additional infographics on ‘Self-Care and Coping’ and ‘Parental Experiences.’ We are excited to continue hosting online clinic-community events until April 2021 for Halifax, Calgary, Winnipeg, and London where we will be releasing more infographics.

The Trans Youth CAN! team also presented at the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) in November of 2020, where we were able to share results on:

Baseline characteristics from the Trans Youth CAN! cohort (see it here)

Experiences and stressors of parents of trans youth in clinical care (see it here)

Pathways to care for trans youth accessing gender-affirming medical care (see it here)

We currently have two papers (Baseline characteristics and Parent experiences) under review for publication in academic journals. We will be publishing our papers open-access so that they are widely available and we’ll link to them on our website.

We also have an upcoming presentation at the Canadian Conference on Medical Education (CCME) in April of 2021. We will be presenting results from our study and talking about the need to expand healthcare capacity for trans youth in Canada by focusing on education for primary care providers and pediatricians.

We’re still working away on our 2-year follow up data collection, which we anticipate wrapping up at the end of 2021. Thanks so much to all our participants who have continued to share their information with us over these past years!

Keep an eye on our results page and please download and share our infographics!

Thanks and best wishes to everyone for the holiday season and a happy and healthy 2021,

The Trans Youth CAN! Research Team
